The protractor l received was defective in its manufacture. Product advertising describes and shows both a red degree scale and a red arrow. The unit l receved did not have the red scale and only part of the arrow was red. l contacted the manufacturer and they provided sympathy only, and no resolution to the problem except "return it." Thank you amazon.com for making return of this item painless! l will no longer consider Starrett for future tool purchases.

My husband is a do it yourselfer and is very excited to use this protactor, he was not able to always mitre a corner to fit well but this instrument should help with that.
